Car Seat Safety Checks – V. V. V. Important!

Can you say with all confidence that your child is safe in your car?
Did you know that 3 in 4 seats are fitted incorrectly?

Dublin parents are being urged to have their child’s car seat checked as research from the Road Safety Authority (RSA) shows that 3 out of 4 child car seats are incorrectly fitted nationwide.

The purpose of the ‘Check it Fits’ Service is to check child car seats and restraints and to show parents, grandparents and guardians how to make sure their child is safe in the car. If a child car seat isn’t fitted correctly, it could lead to a serious or fatal injury in the event of a collision, and so incorrectly fitted child car seats are a significant cause for concern for parents, grandparents and guardians who travel with children.

To highlight the issue of child safety in cars in North Dublin, the ‘Check it Fits’ Service team of child car seat installation experts will check child car seats and restraints to ensure they are correctly fitted in the following locations:

The whole process shouldn’t take more than 10-15 minutes, is completely free of charge, and will give parents and guardians the peace of mind that their child is safe and secure in your car.

Commenting on the upcoming ‘Check it Fits’ Service visit to North Dublin, Moyagh Murdock, CEO, RSA said:
“The ‘Check it Fits’ Service will help to keep our youngest and most vulnerable road users safe on our roads. It is really important that parents, grandparents and guardians are aware that their child car restraints may currently be ineffective in preventing serious injury or death simply because they are not fitted correctly. I would urge all parents, guardians and grandparents to visit the ‘Check it Fits’ Service in North Dublin. The Service is quick, easy and free, and in 15 minutes, you could potentially save your child’s life.”
