Kids Are Cool…So Are Pets. Together? MAGIC.

I love our doggie Pearl. She is the first pet I ever had as an adult (because we can’t really talk about ‘those’ goldfish that I abandoned when I went to France that week) – I credit her with making me less of a selfish asshole and for getting the maternal instinct to kick in.

So when people consistently asked me what we were going to ‘do’ about her when Jacob was born, I took great offense, because she’s a part of our family. Yes, it’s annoying sometimes when she barks the house down if someone calls to the door, and yes, sometimes the vet bills get a bit dramatic and no, I’m not always able to give her the big long runs around a park or beach that she deserves and then yes, I spend all my time feeling guilty about it. But none of the rest of us in the family are perfect either (personally speaking, I’d love a run around the park right now – being house bound does not suit me).

Here’s a great gallery of kids and pets totally loving each other – the doggie school bag carrier kills me!! See it here: Kids and Pets
